Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 2025-03-06
By using eFauna you agree to these Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully before registering or using the service. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you must not use eFauna.
1. Acceptance of terms
By creating an account, signing in, or otherwise accessing or using eFauna (including the website and mobile application), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions and by our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. If you are using the service on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation. If you do not agree to these terms, you must not register or use the service.
2. Description of service
eFauna is a digital platform for managing animal records, veterinary care, and related data. The service is available via the eFauna website and mobile application and is designed for farmers, pet owners, veterinarians, and administrators. Core features include: animal registration (species, breed, identification, photos); veterinary records (diagnoses, treatments, visit notes); vaccination tracking and reminders; farm or household events (births, deaths, sales); insurance policy records per animal; lost-animal reporting and tracking; blog and articles (reading and, for authorised users, publishing); support tickets and in-app messaging; and notifications (e.g. vaccination reminders, ticket updates). The service also includes public-facing features: a lost animals page listing animals reported as lost (showing limited information such as name, species, breed, photo, and lost description); a public animal profile lookup by ear tag (etiketa e kafshes) for finders to identify and contact owners; and a public blog. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the service or any feature at any time, with or without notice.
3. User accounts and conduct
You must provide accurate and complete information when registering and when creating or updating your farm, pet owner, or veterinarian profile. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials (including password) secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must use the service only in compliance with applicable laws and in a manner that does not infringe the rights of others. You may not use the service for any illegal, fraudulent, or unauthorised purpose; to harass, abuse, or harm others; to attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the service or other users’ data; to scrape, crawl, or use automated means to collect data from the service except as permitted (e.g. normal use of the public API or pages); or to transmit malware or interfere with the operation of the service. We may suspend or terminate your account if we reasonably believe you have violated these terms or applicable law.
4. Data and privacy
Your use of eFauna is also governed by our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. By using the service you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of information as described in those documents. When you mark an animal as lost, that animal may appear on the public lost animals page with limited information (e.g. name, species, breed, photo, lost description, and date reported); the public listing does not display the animal’s ear tag. Separate from the listing, members of the public may look up an animal profile by entering its ear tag (etiketa e kafshes), which can allow them to view the same limited profile and, if you have enabled it, to contact you. When you publish articles or other content, that content may be visible in accordance with the role and visibility rules of the service. For full details on what data we collect and how we use it, including legal bases and your rights, see our Privacy Policy.
5. Limitation of liability
eFauna is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. We are not liable for the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any content on the service (including user-generated content and articles) or for any decisions you make based on it. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we exclude liability for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages (including loss of data, profits, or business opportunity) arising from or in connection with your use of the service. Our total liability in connection with these terms or the service shall not exceed the amount you have paid to us in the twelve months preceding the claim, if any. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; where applicable, our liability will be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
6. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time to reflect changes in the service, law, or our practices. We will indicate the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes we may notify you by email or through the service where practicable. Your continued use of eFauna after the effective date of the changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. If you do not agree to the new terms, you must stop using the service and may close your account.
7. User roles and access
eFauna supports different user roles: farmer (farm profile, unlimited animals, vet records, vaccinations, events, sales, insurance, articles, lost-animal reports); pet owner (pet owner profile, limited number of animals, similar features); veterinarian (vet profile, access to assigned clients and animals, veterinary records, vaccinations, vet-specific articles and tools); and administrator (platform management, user and content moderation, admin articles and support). Your access and visibility of data depend on your role and your relationship to the relevant animals or clients. You may not impersonate another role or attempt to access data or features outside your permitted scope.
8. Public features and content
The lost animals page, animal profile lookup by ear tag, and blog are accessible to the public without an account. Information shown on the lost animals listing is limited (e.g. name, species, breed, photo, lost description, date reported) and does not include the ear tag on the listing itself. Ear-tag lookup allows anyone who knows the tag to view the corresponding animal profile and, where enabled, to contact the owner. You are responsible for the content you publish (e.g. articles, lost descriptions) and must not post illegal, misleading, or offensive material. We may remove content that violates these terms or applicable law.
9. Account termination
You may stop using the service at any time. To request account deletion or data export, contact us via the contact form or support. We may suspend or terminate your account or access if you breach these terms, for legal or regulatory reasons, or to protect the service or other users. Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases; we may retain certain data as required by law or as described in our Privacy Policy.
For questions about these terms, please contact us via the contact form on the home page or through the support section in your dashboard.
